SAFA Tshwane is one of the 53 SAFA regions within the membership of the South African Football Association (SAFA). Like all other regions, this region is entrusted with the leading of the regional association football activities, including at the local level through the affiliated local football associations. The cornerstone of its existence includes the development of coaches, referees, administrative and operational officers, leaders, and players. This effort is underpinned by rolling leagues and competition activities, which are highly regulated in the form of association football.

The regional office is located in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, at Sunnyside, next to Hatfield and the Loftus Versveld Stadium. It has jurisdiction over 16 local football associations (LFAs) within Thwane, and these are:

  • Akasia Local Football Association (ALFA)
  • Eersterust Football Association (EFA)
  • Ga-rankuwa Local Football Association (GALFA)
  • Hammanskraal Local Football Association (HALFA)
  • Kungwini Local Football Association (KULFA)
  • Laudium Football Association (LFA)
  • Mabopane Local Football Association (MabLFA)
  • Mamelodi Local Football Association (MaLFA)
  • Nokeng Local Football Association (NoLFA)
  • Olivenhoutbosch Local Football Association (OLFA)
  • Phelindaba Local Football Association (PLFA)
  •  Football Association of Pretoria (FAP)
  • Soshanguve Local Football Association (SoLFA)
  • Stinkwater and Eersterus Local Football Association (SELFA)
  • West-End Local Football Association (WELFA)
  • Winterveldt Local Football Association WiLFA)

In addition to the above, the region also has two associate members, these being:

  • South African Legends and Masters Football Association
  • University Sports South Africa

The region is led by the Regional Executive Committee (REC), which gets elected every four years. The current REC was elected in 2022 and consists of the following members:

SAFA Tshwane administration is headed and overseen by the Regional Secretary and runs the day-to-day administration and operations of the association. Administrators are employed in accordance with the Labour Retional Act of South Africa, while from time to time some administrators will come through the Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) for capacitation and in partnership with government.

The office also oversees all communications between the regional structures, local football associations, the regional clubs, and all our stakeholders which include SAFA National, SAFA Gauteng, the Gauteng, Sports Recreation Arts and Culture Department, the City of Tshwane, and the Tshwane Sports Confederation. There are also other stakeholders that we engage with from time to time in the business community, including other government departments and other sectors in our communities.

  • FIFA under 15 selections (administered by National),

  • Inter-LFA Play-Offs,
  • Regional Play-Offs,
  • Referees fitness Tests,
  • SRAC Schools Football Workshop,
  • CAF D and C License Coaching Courses,
  • Referees Course (administered by SAFA Gauteng).
